Esalen Hot Springs

An afternoon at Esalen with Jess… Happy Belated Birthday!!! How did my baby sister get to be thirty? Soaking in the tubs, wandering the property, green, blue, exquisite sunshine, hot sulfur waters, Thai massage, childhood nostalgia, garden fresh food, stimulating conversation, serene quietude, falling stars, friends, connection… Gratis de Nik – Thank you!!!

Esalen Garden

If you haven’t been to Esalen – go! If you have – go again!!!

I’ve decided I’d like it to be a more regular event… Especially considering my love of soaking tubs and my current lack thereof. On my wish list – BIG bath tub!!!

Early morning, uber-windy hike with the lovely Ana. Great talks – yoga, massage, health counseling, green business, how to bring more “hipness” to Monterey , personal and professional inspiration!

Big Sur Lighthouse

Evening walks and evening drives… One awesome sunset after another!!!

I love early morning sunrises and late-night starlight but sunsets – particularly with the ocean in front of me and the mountains behind – are my absolute favorite!!!

Andrew Molera State Park

Despite a full schedule, there has been plenty of time to enjoy the richness and magic of fall on the Big Sur Coast… times with family, times with friends and precious moments alone… I feel infinitely grateful for the beauty and magnificance of my loved ones and my home!!!

Monterey’s own Green Building Expo will be held at the Monterey Conference Center on December 3rd from 2pm until 7pm. Come by and hobnob with the stars of our community who are leading our own local, creative, green and sustainable revolution. There will be speakers, booths, refreshments, free goodies, music and endless possibilities for education, inspiration and a general all-around good time!

A wise man once told my wise dad …

Don’t Teach.

Don’t Preach.

Share.

How can you share of yourself today?

Do you like Ginger? I love, love, love… ginger in cooking, candied ginger, ginger tea, chocolate covered ginger, ginger candies and now Ginger People’s Ginger Soother – YUM!!!

Made with honey, ginger and lemon it is a zingy delicious refreshment that holds a local address right here in Marina. You can pick one up at Whole Foods among other places. Try it mixed with sparkling water as a ginger spritzer. Add vodka and honey for a smooth martini. Or heat it up wih extra lemon on a cold fall night.

However you enjoy it – drink up and prosper!!! 😉

Cornerstone Wellness Center

There is a new wellness center in town. Have you heard of it? Cornerstone Wellness on Cass Street in Monterey. They have a well-rounded team of amazing local practitioners who offer a combination of massage and bodywork, skin care and waxing, stress management, strength training, regulation thermography and quantum biofeedback, among other things.

Jess, Dad and I have signed up with the fabulous Ulisses Jara for personal training. He is coaching us to build strength and flexibility. How do you take care of your body?

Simple movements done with intention and repetition are the right recipe for a power nap! 😉

I feel GREAT!!! 😀

How do you manage stress and practice wellness? Do you have a team of health practitioners to support you? What are your health priorities?  Have you looked into your community resources? Do you make time for self-care?

Without love,
all worship is a burden,
all dancing is a chore,
all music is mere noise.

All the rain of heaven may fall into the sea —
without love,
not one drop could become a pearl.

Ruminating on Relationships

What does it mean to you to be in relationship? With loved ones? Family? Friends? A lover/partner/spouse/soulmate? Do you appreciate your current relationships? Do you feel inspired by those you share with? Or do you find them unsatisfying or lacking in some way?

Do you read the DailyOm? I generally enjoy the bits of wisdom from this site and found today’s topic particularly relevant… Relationships can be life enhancing – beautiful, joyous and connecting. They can also be a source of great grief, struggle and confusion. When we are in them, we often want out. When significant and meaningful relationships are absent, our lives can often feel empty and void of purpose.

The DailyOm today says…”Before we embark upon the journey of finding the relationship that is right for us we may want to take the opportunity to refine our concept of who we are and our ideas of what we want from life…”

WHO AM I?

What kind of people have I aligned myself with?
What kind of people do I want to attract into my life
?

“Part of the journey of finding a mate is learning how to become our own mate. When we can learn to meet our needs without relying on someone else to complete us, we don’t have to form relationships from the space of needing our emptiness to be filled. We can also discover our intrinsic value, separate from what someone else might be reflecting back to us. Getting to know who we are and learning to love ourselves creates a solid foundation of self that we can bring to any relationship.”

How can I get to know myself better?

What do I need to do to meet my own needs?

“If you want to be in relationship, but haven’t found the right one for you, remember that the universe works in perfect order and, therefore, right now your life is unfolding exactly as it is meant to be. Maybe all this time has been part of your preparation period for meeting your intended partner. Even the relationships in our lives that haven’t worked out as we had hoped serve us by teaching us to make better choices in our next relationships.”

What have I learned about myself through past relationships?

Can I see the gifts they have given me?

“…Follow your heart, listen to your inner voice, continue to become your own soul mate, and stay open to love. The journey of finding the right relationship begins with being in right relationship with yourself…”

Can I enter into relationship with others from a place of wholeness?

How can I nurture my sense of self?

What do I need to do to be in right relationship with myself?
